[Actual vehicle guide]
- Series 117 is a DC suburban train that started operation in 1980
-In order to compete with the limited express trains of parallel private railways, it was manufactured with specifications comparable to express trains at the time, even though it was a suburban train equipped with two doors on each side and a conversion cross seat on the air spring bogie.
- During the JNR era, 6 cars were used for special rapid trains and rapid trains, and in the morning and evening rapid trains, 12-car trains were also operated by combining two 6-car trains.
- After privatization, operation of 12-car [Special Rapid] was also started, and even after the successor Series 221 appeared, it was operated as [Special Rapid] until 1999.
-As the operation was reduced, it was transferred to various places, and the painting was changed and remodeled.
