[Actual vehicle guide]
- The EF62 type is a DC electric locomotive that was introduced in 1963 to pull trains passing through the Usui Pass on the Shinetsu Main Line.
- After the privatization of the Japanese National Railways, six cars were inherited by JR East and assigned to the Tabata Depot to pull the Noto Express and freight trains between Kuroi and Nihongi.
- In 1993, the Noto Express changed from 14 series to 489 series, and after the end of regular service, it was mainly used for special trains until the Usui Pass section was abolished in 1997.
- Around 1990, a C' antenna was installed on the front, causing a change in appearance.
