Product Description
The Type 17 Carrier-Based Fighter (later named the Experimental Reppu), planned as a successor to the Zero fighter, had its requirements submitted by the Navy in 1942, as its name suggests.
The design process was difficult due to the excessive performance requirements and the lack of engine options. Furthermore, the production and modification of the existing Zero and Raiden fighters meant that the first prototype was not completed until April 1944.
While its handling and flight stability were highly praised during its maiden flight, the engine's insufficient power meant its speed and climb performance fell far short of the required specifications, and modifications continued until the end of the war.
The finished product measures 228mm in length and 291mm in width, with approximately 80 parts.
Includes standing figures of the pilot, mechanic, and officer sitting in the cockpit.
