──Two selections of DD16 factory-replaced locomotives from the east and north!

[Actual vehicle introduction]
- JNR introduced various diesel locomotives to eliminate smoke on local lines. However, it was difficult for the conventional DD13 and DE10 to enter lines that only allowed a maximum axle load of 12 tons, such as simplified lines. Therefore, the smaller DD16 was introduced from 1971 to 1975.
- Equipped with a DML61S or DML61Z engine, it has a rated output of 800 PS, a maximum pulling force of 14,400 kgf, and a top speed of 75 km/h.
- Its main purpose is to pull freight trains by itself, and it is not equipped with steam heating or an overall control mechanism.
- The DD16 was introduced to local lines across the country, but soon after, freight trains were cut back and local lines were abolished, and its use rapidly declined.
- Most of the surplus cars were scrapped before the privatization of JNR, and some were converted into shunting locomotives at rolling stock factories.
- After being deployed to Kagoshima in 1973, the DD16-20 served as a shunting locomotive at Omiya Works for about 20 years from 1983.
- In 2004, it was shipped overseas, converted to standard gauge, and used on the Taiwan High Speed Rail.
- During its time at the Omiya Factory, the car was repainted several times. In 1984, the bonnet was repainted in Blue No. 20 and the rest of the car in Cream No. 1 as a paint test.

- Based on the actual vehicle, there is no release lever and the speaker is installed in the cab.
- The front and rear windows of the cab are not swivel type.
- There is no train radio antenna on the roof, and whistle parts and fan cover parts are installed without covers.
- Headlights are on. Taillights are off. This product does not have a light off switch.
