The Kiha 40 series is a general-purpose diesel car that was introduced in 1977.
The Kiha 40 2000 series and the Kiha 47 0 and 1000 series were introduced as vehicles for warm climates mainly for the Western Japan region, and are equipped with two-stage rising passenger windows.
JR West's trains have undergone engine replacement and vehicle renewal work, resulting in significant changes to their appearance.
Currently, vehicles belonging to the Okayama Diesel Railroad Branch of the Goto General Rolling Stock Depot are in service on the entire Tsuyama Line, Kibi Line (Momotaro Line), and the Kishin Line between Tsuyama and Chugoku Katsuyama.
Vehicles in this area are characterized by the addition of jumper plug sockets to the front and the conversion of headlights to white LEDs from around 2017.

- About Kiha 40 2134
Kiha 40 series No. 2134 was repainted in September 2016 in a "Nostalgia" livery that mimics the standard color scheme of the JNR era.
During the 2019 inspection, the bogies were turned gray and a jumper plug receptacle was added to the front, resulting in changes to the exterior.

High grade (HG) specifications
This is a reproduction of one of JR West's Kiha 40 and 47 series trains that was deployed at the Goto General Rolling Stock Works Okayama Diesel Car Branch and was mainly used on the Tsuyama Line.
The printing of the roof extension is reproduced with the ends extending diagonally.
A jumper plug receptacle has been added to the front, recreating the recent appearance of the grey bogie.
Jumper hose can be reproduced three-dimensionally using separate parts.
The typhoon is available in four sizes (shutter type, slit type, large and small)
Head and tail lights and front display are equipped with constant lighting boards and ON-OFF switches
