Product Description
Introducing a completely new 1/144 scale injection molded Nordenfelt IV steam submarine kit from Micromill of Ukraine.
The Nordenfels IV was a submarine designed and built for the Imperial Russian Navy by Swedish inventor Thorsten Nordenfels and British inventor George Garrett.
The ship, launched in 1887, was purchased by the Russian Empire, but ran aground off the coast of Jutland during its voyage to Russia. Russia refused to pay for the ship, and it was scrapped.
Although the crew had to shut down the boilers and retract the funnels when submerged, the ship was able to store steam in steam accumulators while on the surface and use it to power the engines when submerged, allowing it to travel underwater for short periods of time.
The kit comes with etched parts.
When completed, the total length will be approximately 264mm.
