This train was created when Takasaki Rolling Stock Center's 211 series 3000 series trains were converted into fixed 10-car formations by incorporating green cars.It is painted in the yellow and blue Boso colors and replaced some of the 113 series trains belonging to Makuhari Rolling Stock Center.
After being selected, it served in the Boso area for seven years, and then when the 209 series was introduced to the Boso area, it was transferred to Nagano Rolling Stock Center, where it ended its service in the Boso region.
The year after service began, single-arm pantographs were added to KuMoHa 211 in nine of the 14 trains to improve current collection efficiency, and the trains were fitted with a unique configuration featuring two different types of pantographs.
