[Product Introduction]
In 1959, three prototype ED71 locomotives with different specifications based on the ED70 were introduced in conjunction with the electrification of the Tohoku Main Line north of Kuroiso.
Based on the test results, the following year, 41 first-stage mass-produced cars were introduced over a two-year period, and from 1962, 11 second-stage mass-produced cars were introduced over a two-year period, with a total of 55 cars deployed at the Fukushima Locomotive Depot.
It was used to pull passenger and freight trains on the AC electrified section from Kuroiso to the outskirts of Sendai, and laid the foundation for the subsequent development of AC electric locomotives.
When the ED75 was introduced in 1965 for electrification north of Sendai, it was gradually replaced with faster trains, but continued to be used south of the Sendai suburbs.
Towards the end of its life, some vehicles were fitted with dual shield beam headlights, but by 1982 all vehicles were taken out of service.
Introducing the first generation ED71, featuring a unique style with filters arranged in a diamond pattern on the side of the car body.
Along with the second batch of cars, it was used to pull many passenger and freight cars.
They were sometimes used in double or triple-unit configurations to pull long or heavy trains, and on the Kanaya River - Fukushima - Shiroishi section, which had a series of uphill gradients, they were used as a helper locomotive for freight trains pulled by double-unit ED75s.

[Product features]
Around 1975, the first model belonging to the Fukushima Locomotive Depot was commercialized.
The filters arranged in a square shape on the side of the car body, the rain gutter of a different length from the second type, and the electric heating indicator light arranged on the first side are reproduced.
The silver color of the band wrapping around the front and the edge of the step are beautifully expressed.
The compact size of the AC electric locomotive and the lively mechanical equipment on the roof are accurately reproduced.
Front handrail, release lever, flare, whistle, etc. are already installed
Headlights light up (using incandescent LED). Reproduces the original single headlight.
Slotless motor provides smooth and quiet running
Arnold coupler is standard equipment. Replacement knuckle coupler included.
