The E233-1000 series was introduced to the Urawa Train Depot (now Saitama Rolling Stock Center) in 2007 to replace the 209 series on the Keihin-Tohoku and Negishi Lines.
Compared to the 0 series, the main differences include the placement of the front stripe and train number indicator, as well as the cutout for the platform detector at the front.
Other minor changes included repositioning the train radio antenna on the roof, rerouting the pantograph piping, installing D-ATC equipment, and repositioning auxiliary equipment (to match other train types in the same depot).
Since 2023, work has been carried out to install antennas and upgrade running equipment to accommodate the wireless train control system (ATACS) in anticipation of future one-man operation.

We are releasing a model of the 178th train set from the Saitama Train Depot, which has undergone ATACS antenna and underfloor equipment upgrades.
This model replicates the train set manufactured at the Niitsu Rolling Stock Works. The roof and end faces of the lead cars have been newly created.
The ATACS antenna added to the roof of the lead car is accurately reproduced.
Cars 2, 4, and 5 are equipped with AU726B roof-mounted air conditioners, while the other cars are equipped with AU726 units.
Headlights/taillights and front display illuminate (using white LEDs)
The front display is pre-printed with [1342A] [Rapid Keihin-Tohoku Line]. Replacement front displays [Local Keihin-Tohoku Line]/[(Blank)] are included.
The side display is pre-printed with "[Rapid Keihin-Tohoku Line]".
The adoption of a slotless motor ensures smooth and quiet operation.
The intermediate coupling sections are equipped with body-mounted KATO close-coupling couplers (without hooks) as standard. The leading section uses a dummy coupler.
The book-style case included with Add-on Set A can store the contents of both the basic set and Add-on Set B.
