The KiHa 58 series, manufactured between 1961 and 1968, is a type of express diesel railcar that played an active role in connecting non-electrified sections throughout Japan (excluding Hokkaido) and between urban areas and rural regions.
Because they operate in long formations on main lines and shorter formations in rural areas, and are often configured as multi-unit trains bound for various destinations, the train type configuration allows for flexible operation.
This set contains the same vehicles as the Starter Set Kiha 58 Series Express Diesel Railcar.

The Kiha 58/28 is reproduced with flat driver's cab windows, no snowplow, and a slit-type typhoon horn.
The KiHa 58/28 models reproduce the 0 series which were retrofitted with air conditioning. The KiHa 28 model is the version without a generator engine.
The KiRo 28 is reproduced with a green stripe on the side of the car body, a rectangular AU13 air conditioner on the roof, and a 4VK engine mounted under the floor.
The front gangway door of the lead car is reproduced in the form of a gangway frame, and a gangway gangway can be attached as desired. One replacement front gangway gangway is included in the set.
Each car uses a body-mounted close-coupling coupler. A body mount that replicates the air hose is included as an accessory.
