The 205 series trains on the Yokohama Line debuted in 1988.
The 205 series on the Yokohama Line features new destination displays and enlarged door windows, giving the interior a more open feel.
The line colors were also changed from a single color paint job to two colors, yellow-green and green, using colored tape, making it easier to identify the lines. This adoption of multiple colors has since spread to other lines, greatly contributing to the establishment of a distinct image for each line.
In 1994, the Saha 204-100 series, a car with six doors, was introduced, and the number of cars per train set was increased from seven to eight.
The introduction of the successor E233-6000 series began in 2014, and the 205 series was retired from the Yokohama Line that same year.
