[Vehicle Introduction]
C57 No. 1 is a locomotive preserved in working order at the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum, and was selected for the revival of steam locomotive operation on the Yamaguchi Line. It is one of the few active steam locomotives that has been pulling the "SL Yamaguchi" train for over 40 years since September 1979.
It had been out of service since the fall of 2020 for repairs, but it has been announced that it will return to operation in the fall of 2026 to coincide with the Yamaguchi Destination Campaign.

Originally, the main locomotive pulling the SL Yamaguchi train was the C57 No. 1, making it an essential item for the 35 Series 4000 passenger car set.
This locomotive is recommended not only for users who already own the 35 series passenger car set or the D51 200 locomotive, but also for those who are just starting to collect the <SL Yamaguchi> train set.

I also recommend the double-headed operation with the D51 200 locomotive, which was actually realized in real life.
Each set of the 35 series 4000 series passenger cars includes a storage space for this product (in addition to the one for the D51).

This product is a re-release. The rods, crossheads, and combination links will be changed to more realistic colors.
As a result, the product number, price, and JAN code will be changed.
There are no other changes from the previous product in terms of specifications.

[Product features]
Following the debut of the 35 series 4000 series, C57 1, which played an active role in pulling the [Yamaguchi] train from September 2017 onwards, and the [Kita-Biwako] train in the summer and autumn of 2018, will be produced as a product.
This model recreates the form of Unit 1, which features characteristics of a restored steam locomotive, including its extended cab roof, swivel windows, and heavy oil combustion system mounted on the tender, as well as other features of a restored steam locomotive such as a chimney with a rotating spark arrestor, an enlarged ATS generator and additional emergency battery installed since 2017, and sealed beam headlights.
The body is reproduced in a subdued matte black, just like the D51 200.
The gold decorations on the bands, differentials, inspection window edges, and cylinder edges in each section have been reproduced.
The smokebox door handrails, the handrails in front of the deflector, the boiler handrails, and the check valve are depicted in silver.
Features a coreless motor-equipped power unit. Equipped with a flywheel for smooth and stable running.
Headlights illuminate. Warm white LEDs are used (tender lights do not illuminate).
By replacing the included double-heading coupler, it is also possible to double-head with a D51 200.
Manufacturer's nameplate: [Kawasaki Rolling Stock], conversion, inspection, and safety device markings are printed on the body.
Selectable license plate: [C57 1] Black background / Red background can be selected
In addition to the "Yamaguchi" headmark, which is essential when the "SL Yamaguchi" is pulled, the headmark (autumn version) for the "SL Kita-Biwako" is also included. When combined with the 10-1820 12-series passenger cars (JR West specifications), it is possible to recreate the "SL Kita-Biwako No. 1" (Maibara → Kinomoto) seen in the summer and autumn of 2018.
