Product Description

This product features the 24 series passenger cars used in the limited express sleeper train "Izumo," which was in service until 2006. It includes the Kani 24 112 and the Oshi 24 after its GU modification, both made with new molds!

[Product Introduction]
- The [Izumo] was a sleeper express train that connected Tokyo and Izumo City via the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Sanin Main Lines.
- At the time, demand for the Izumo was extremely high, and it was known as one of the most difficult trains to get tickets for among the Blue Trains departing from Tokyo.
- After the transition to JR, trains with improved accommodations were introduced, and trains with gold stripes were incorporated into the fleet.
- For a long time, the service operated with two round trips of passenger trains: Nos. 3 and 2 using 14 series 14 type cars, and Nos. 1 and 4 using 24 series 25 type cars. However, in 1998, [Izumo Nos. 3 and 2] were changed to [Sunrise Izumo] using 285 series electric trains, and then, with the timetable revision in March 2006, the operation of the sleeper limited express [Izumo] using passenger cars was sadly discontinued.
- The [Izumo] will be added to KATO's Blue Train lineup.
- Recreating the unique formation of the [Izumo] train, which mainly consists of gold-striped passenger cars but with only the Orone 25 having a silver stripe.
- This can be enjoyed together with a wide range of products, including the <7008-Q DD51 Late Model Warm Climate JR Specification> and <3061-8 EF65 1000 Late Model (JR Specification)> which are scheduled to be released around the same time, as well as the <10-2017/2018 Kiha 181 Series [Hakuto]/[Oki/Kunibiki/Isokaze]> and various 381 Series [Yakumo] which are seen in the San'in region.

[Product features]
- A model of the sleeper express train "Izumo," which was composed of 24 series passenger cars around 2005, in its later configuration.
- The unique formation of the [Izumo] train, with only the Orone 25 having a silver stripe and the other passenger cars having gold stripes, is reproduced.
- Recreates the configuration in which the emergency door on the corridor side of the sleeping car and the bathroom window are closed off.

- Reproduces the post-renovation form, which features closed front doors and side louvers, and altered roof shape.
- All three front windows are supported by H-shaped rubber seals. The wiper on the right-hand window (facing forward) is reproduced in silver.
- Oshi 24 701
- Recreates the rooftop featuring the newly designed AU76 cooler.
- The interior has been upgraded to recreate the version with a sofa.
- Car 8: Ohanev 25 126 is equipped with knuckle couplers as standard. Replacement Arnold couplers are included. Car 9: The coupling end on the Izumo City side of Ohane 25 208 is equipped with a newly developed retractable knuckle coupler.
- The power car and the locomotive coupling end of car 11 are equipped with Arnold couplers as standard. Other intermediate coupling sections are equipped with body-mounted close-coupling couplers.
- Tail lights and train marks illuminate on the Kani 24 112, and Ohanev 25 124 and 126. Only Ohanev 25 126 has a light switch.
- The H-rubber seals are black on all cars, and the Ohan 25 and Ohanev 25 cars reproduce the configuration with the emergency exits blocked off. The car number signs are pre-printed, and the side destination displays are blank white. Destination display stickers are included.
- The convertible train marks include [Izumo], [Nihonkai], [Akebono], and [(plain)].
- The book-style case included with the 5-car add-on set can accommodate two locomotives for towing.
