――Since the EF11 is used on the slope section for mountain lines such as the Chuo Main Line and Joetsu Line, it is the first locomotive on the Japanese National Railways to have a power regenerative brake, and is classified into two types, Units 1-3 and 4. Units 1-3 are made in 1934 and have the same welded structure as the EF10 1-16. Unit 4 was made in 1936 and has a body similar to the EF10 17/18. The equipment layout is different from the EF10 due to the brakes. Unit 1 was newly manufactured on March 30, 1935, and after being assigned to the Kofu engine warehouse (later Kofu engine district), it was scrapped in December 1974 after going through Mizukami → Kouzu → Kofu → Hachioji.
