--Productized in its current form, when it was active on the Kashii Line and in the Oita region

- The JR Kyushu Kiha 200 series is a suburban diesel railcar that was introduced in 1991.
- It was introduced on rapid trains on the Chikuho Main Line and Sasaguri Line, and was nicknamed the "Red Rapid" due to its body color.
- The 500 and 1500 series were manufactured for the Kashii Line in 1997 and are capable of one-man operation.
- The trains are all long seats, making them suitable for use on commuter and school routes in suburban areas, and originally did not have toilets, but when they were transferred to the Kagoshima area in 2003, toilets were installed and the train's color was changed from red to yellow.
- Currently, it is in service on the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line and is nicknamed "Nanohana."
- In 2014, the seats were converted from convertible cross seats to all long seats, and the vehicle numbers were changed to the original numbers plus 550.
