The Kintetsu 2610 series is a four-door, cross-seat train that was introduced in 1972 to replace the 2200 series on the Osaka and Nagoya lines.
Since its introduction, it has been equipped with an air conditioning unit, and depending on the manufacturing period, it is available in continuous and distributed types.
For a long time, they were mainly used for express trains on the Osaka and Nagoya lines, but with the introduction of the 5200 series and other trains, they were gradually converted to long seats from 1991, and since 1996 some trains have been converted to L/C cars, which allow the seats to be changed between long seats and cross seats.
In the first update (Update A), the train type indicators on the sides were changed to direction signs, and the air conditioner covers of the middle motor cars in decentralized air-conditioned car formations were changed.
In addition, the second update (Update B) saw changes such as the installation of rain gutters above the side passenger doors and the conversion of some of the side windows to large single panes of glass.
