[Actual vehicle guide]
The Ou Main Line, which connects Fukushima and Akita, has Itaya Pass, which has a gradient of 33‰ between Fukushima and Yonezawa, and was famous as a difficult section of the road when locomotive trains were the norm.
During the steam locomotive era, the 4100, 4110, and E10 types were used, while during the DC electrification era, the EF16 type and other gradient-capable locomotives were in use. When AC electrification was introduced in 1968, the powerful AC electric locomotive EF71 type was introduced exclusively for this section and was used for both freight and passenger transport.
Even after the JR privatization, this type of train continued to pull 50 series passenger cars on local trains on this section, but it was retired in August 1991 when the section from Fukushima to Yamagata was converted to standard gauge and the Shinkansen began direct service.

[Product Features]
This set is based on the "Farewell Itaya Pass Set," which was the precursor to TOMIX's farewell sets, and includes an EF71 and two OhaFu 50 series cars. The packaging is the same red paper box and sleeve as back then.
- Includes stickers depicting the station name plates of the four consecutive switchback stations (Akaiwa, Itaya, Toge, and Osawa) that existed on the Ou Main Line at the time, as well as the destination signs that were displayed on the sides of 50 series passenger cars.
