The Taki 43000 series is a 43-ton gasoline-only freight car that first appeared in 1967. In 1989, a 44-ton group was introduced, with the tank body enlarged by reducing the weight of each part, and these were numbered in the 200,000 range.
When they were introduced, all the cars were owned by Nippon Oil Transportation and were initially painted in a single color of black, but later, additional cars were painted in the same two-tone green and gray color as the Taki 1000 series.
