Product Description
--The last 583 series sleeper express train, "Kitaguni," is now available as a model in its late-era configuration. The blocked-off emergency exits and unitized door cock covers are featured on a newly designed body!
[Product Introduction]
The express train "Kitaguni" is an overnight express train that runs between Osaka and Niigata.
The express trains 507 and 508, which resumed operation between Osaka and Aomori in 1947, are the origin of the "Kitaguni" train. Because it connected with the Aomori Ferry at Aomori Station, it also played a role as a route connecting Kansai and Hokkaido.
With the opening of the Joetsu Shinkansen in 1982, the number of passengers traveling directly to and from the Kansai region gradually decreased. As a result, the section north of Niigata Station was separated into the daytime limited express "Inaho," and the "Kitaguni" became an overnight express train running between Osaka and Niigata.
The 583 series electric train began operation in 1985, and even after the transition to JR, it continued to operate as a regular service until March 2012, undergoing renovations and paint changes.
After that, it became a special train and ran mainly during long holidays, but it officially ceased operation in January 2013.
KATO's 583 series will be adding a new lineup.
We have produced a model of the express train "Kitaguni," which is characterized by its paint scheme featuring a white base with gray, blue, and gold stripes.
We will be creating new models of the KuhaNe 581, which has a train radio antenna installed, and the Salone 581, which has had its middle berth small window sealed off due to conversion to a two-tiered sleeping car.
This can be enjoyed together with other popular products such as the "10-881/882 24 Series Sleeper Express [Nihonkai]" and other train products that operate on the Japan Sea Main Line.
[Product features]
We are producing a model of the B4 train set, which belongs to the Kyoto General Rolling Stock Center (now the Kyoto Branch of the Suita General Rolling Stock Center) and consists of two KuhaNe 581 cars at both ends.
This train features the N-scale life extension work, the second paint scheme change which began in 1997, and reproduces the configuration up until around 2010 when the train set was reconfigured.
The JR livery, which differs from the JNR (Japanese National Railways) livery, is reproduced with a white base and gray, blue, and gold stripes.
The side emergency exits are sealed, the door cock covers are integrated into a single unit, and the handrails near the end of the car on the toilet side of the intermediate car are reproduced.
The KuhaNe 581 features a newly created roof with a train radio antenna, and the [Kitaguni Express] logo on the side of the car body is reproduced by printing.
The Salone 581 is a newly created vehicle, a conversion of the SahaNe 581, and reproduces the appearance with the small window in the middle berth being sealed off due to the conversion to a two-tiered sleeping car.
The intermediate couplings use body-mounted close-coupling couplers (with hooks). The front end is equipped with a dummy coupler and features a square-shaped coupler cover.
The pantograph has a snow cover, and the shoe has two horns to recreate the pipe-like shape.
