The Nankai Electric Railway Koya Line is a line connecting Namba and Gokurakubashi, and has long been a route for accessing Mount Koya, with luxury trains operating on it.
The 20000 series Koya is a luxurious limited express train that combines high-speed performance on flat sections with climbing ability on challenging mountainous sections with a maximum gradient of 50‰ and a radius of 100m or less.
