--The only DE10! No. 1755 painted in JNR express colors!

[Actual vehicle introduction]
- In 1966, Japanese National Railways developed the DE10 medium-sized diesel locomotive for use on local lines and for shunting purposes.
- In order to achieve both tractive force and axle load restrictions, a specially designed three-axle bogie was adopted, resulting in a first for JNR with five driving axles.
- In 1987, towards the end of the JNR era, the Ariake Express, which had been operated to Kumamoto by 485 series express trains, was made to run directly to Suizenji Station on the Toyohashi Main Line, which was not electrified at the time, and the DE10-1755 was selected to pull it.
- To match the image of the 485 series, the locomotive was repainted in the JNR express livery of cream No. 4 with a red No. 2 stripe.
- In 1988, the 783 series began to operate on this line, but DE10-1755 continued to be used in its JNR express livery.
- In 1994, the direct service of the locomotive-hauled Ariake Express to Suizenji was discontinued.
- As of 2024, the locomotive is still in service, but has been repainted black like other JR Kyushu locomotives.

[Product Summary]
