──6000 series first car replaced with single arm pantograph
The Seibu 6000 series was introduced in 1992 in preparation for the mutual through service between the Seibu Ikebukuro Line and the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line.
It is the only Seibu Railway train to feature a stainless steel body, and is the first train to be introduced as a fixed 10-car formation.
It features a style never seen before on Seibu trains, such as a curved front end and an emergency passageway compatible with subways.
From the 6151 train set manufactured after 1996, the body structure has been made of aluminum, and from the 6156 to 6158 train sets manufactured after 1997, the door pocket windows have been eliminated, and there are differences depending on the manufacturing period.
Work has been carried out to enable direct operation with Tokyo Metro, Tokyu Corporation, and Yokohama Minatomirai Railway, but the 6101 and 6102 trains, which have many mass-produced prototype elements, were excluded from the modifications and are still in operation on the Shinjuku Line without the direct-to-direct conversion work being carried out.
