[Vehicle Introduction]
The history of electric locomotives in Japan began with the 10000 series imported in 1912 for use on the Usui Pass. Subsequently, with the rapid electrification of flat railway lines during the Taisho era, the locomotives introduced relied on imports from major powers.
In 1924, the ED15, the first electric locomotive manufactured by a private company in Japan, was completed. Following this, the EF52 was developed in 1927 under the leadership of the Ministry of Railways as the first large-scale electric locomotive for mainline passenger trains.
The Ministry of Railways consolidated the differing know-how and standards of the various manufacturers, aiming to improve the average technical capabilities of each company.
The main equipment was based on the Westinghouse-style unit switch system, the auxiliary equipment followed a pragmatic design policy of "taking the best features from each company," and the car body and deck area were finished in the American style.
While the basic performance generally met the expected targets, there were many issues, including excessive weight, faulty pantographs, and a somewhat mediocre performance due to its aim to be suitable for both passenger and freight service. Many of these issues were improved in the EF53, which appeared five years later, and it would eventually become a masterpiece.
After operating on the Tokaido Main Line, the EF52 locomotives were transferred to the Chuo Main Line around 1949.
As a passenger locomotive, its performance was somewhat suited to slower speeds, and its sufficient weight made it well-suited to gradient lines. It was seen in service for a long time, including its later transfer to the Hanwa Line.

Further expansion of the Micro Ace electric locomotive series
A variation product based on A1003 (shipped July 2013).
In response to numerous requests, we are once again producing Japan's first domestically manufactured F-class locomotive!
The "grape color No. 1" body color was seen until around 1960.
The design is based on the locomotive that was stationed at the Kofu locomotive depot in the late 1950s and operated on the Chuo Main Line.
The district nameplate is printed with [甲].
The side ventilators are the original vertical slit type.
Attached to a hook-type taillight.
Based on actual photographs of the train, the roof-mounted lightning arresters are rectangular and positioned directly behind the headlights.
A round manufacturer's plate (Shibaura, Kisha Seizo) is printed below the side window of the driver's cab at each end.
The end markings are the standard JNR type, printed on the end of the car body, closer to the end than the manufacturer's plate.
