[Vehicle Introduction]
The 5000 series is an 18-meter-long, three-door, long-seat train that debuted in 1963. It was newly built by Keio Teito Electric Railway (now Keio Corporation) to improve the image of the railway company when Shinjuku Station on the Keio Line was moved underground and the voltage was increased to 1,500V.
It was also used on the newly established express train service, and the following year it won the Laurel Prize.
From 1968 onwards, vehicles equipped with air conditioning began to appear. These air-conditioned vehicles played a key role not only in the subsequent construction of new vehicles but also in the air conditioning modifications of existing vehicles and the overall increase in the air-conditioning rate. By 1969, a total of 155 units had been manufactured.
One of its distinguishing features is the wide variety in the shape of the bogies and air conditioner covers, depending on the year of manufacture and when the air conditioning was added.
After the Keio Electric Railway CI logo was applied in 1989 (Heisei 1), it continued to operate until 1996 (Heisei 8).
After their retirement, many of them were transferred to local private railways, and three 5100 series cars were repurposed as freight trains, so they could be seen until 2004.
KATO will be releasing the first-generation 5000 series train of Keio Teito Electric Railway (now Keio Corporation), which will be the first in KATO's private railway vehicle lineup.
In addition to the 5000 and 5100 series, which are air-conditioned cars, the lineup also includes a special 7-car set of air-conditioned cars equipped with the popular small distributed air conditioners.
By combining the various sets, you can enjoy a wide variety of train formations ranging from 6 to 9 cars.

[Product features]
This product features wide-body cars with cardan drive, originally from around 1980-1988, in their post-air-conditioning modified form.
Reproducing the form after the removal of the old company emblem and [KTR] logo, and the car number indicator holder.
The pantograph is the PT42 type, which does not have a horn-shaped tip on the shoe. The bogies and air conditioner covers, which differ for each train set, are accurately reproduced.
Air conditioning: All cars have 6 RPU-1508 (small distributed air conditioning) units. Bogies: 5722, 5772, 5872…TS-805A / 5022, 5072, 5122, 5172…TS-804A
The front destination display is already fitted with "Shinjuku," and replacements for [Keio Hachioji] and [(blank)] are included.
The front destination display includes options for "Limited Express," "Express," "Commuter Express," "Rapid," "Commuter Rapid," "Return," and "Plain (Cream)."
The special edition 7-car set includes headmarks for "Takao," "Jinba," and "Geiko," as well as a car number lettering sheet that allows you to change the train formation.
The lead car features illuminated headlights/taillights, passing indicator lights, and front destination display (with on/off switch/using white LEDs). The passing indicator lights can be individually switched on or off.
The coupler is a body-mounted close-coupling coupler without a hook. A body mount with an electrical connector representation that can be attached to the front is included.
The slotless motor ensures smooth and quiet operation.
