Product Description
--Style starts from the undercarriage! The alluring light gray undercarriage of the E751 series!
[Vehicle Introduction]
The E751 series is an AC-only limited express train based on the E653 series, manufactured by JR East between 1999 and 2000, with three 6-car sets produced.
Similar to the E653 series, it features a double-skin aluminum alloy body, a non-through high driver's cab, and IGBT element VVVF inverter control.
Furthermore, a distinctive feature is that the headlights, rear marker lights, and horn are mounted on the floor, taking into consideration driving in areas with heavy snowfall.
Initially, it was used as the limited express "Super Hatsukari" between Morioka and Aomori, but after the opening of the Tohoku Shinkansen line between Morioka and Hachinohe, it was used as the limited express "Tsugaru".
When the Tohoku Shinkansen was extended from Hachinohe to Shin-Aomori, the Limited Express Tsugaru service was rerouted to run between Aomori and Akita.
Subsequently, based on factors such as the number of users, the two intermediate Moha units were removed, and all three train sets became four-car trains.
In the March 2024 timetable revision, in order to improve the speed and convenience of travel between Aomori and Akita, one round trip service was launched under the name "Super Tsugaru," a limited express train with fewer intermediate stops.
For JR East, the revival of the "Super" designation on the "Super View Odoriko" train, after its discontinuation, generated considerable buzz.
As of June 2026, the E751 series supports transportation in northern Tohoku by operating three round trips of the limited express trains [Super Tsugaru] and [Tsugaru].
