[Product Introduction]
The 883 series was introduced in 1995 with the aim of speeding up service on the Nippo Main Line and improving service. It was JR Kyushu's first pendulum-type train and Japan's first commercial AC pendulum-type train.
Initially, five 7-car trains and three 5-car trains were manufactured, and each train features a different design on the front panel depending on the year of manufacture.
The five-car trains were given distinctive personalities by changing the front colors to silver, yellow, and dark blue.
Since 2005, renovation work has been carried out, and the building now has a unified metallic blue exterior.
Furthermore, in 2008, the five-car train was expanded to seven cars.
All trains are now seven-car formations.
In 2025, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its debut, the first train (AO-1) will be given a commemorative wrapping and will be in operation for the remainder of the year.

We are reproducing for the first time in a long time the 5-car set from KATO's 883 series, which features a yellow front cover.

[Product features]
The AO-7 train belonging to the Oita Rolling Stock Center is reproduced in the form of 1997-2006.
Reproduce the distinctive yellow front cover on the light blue and silver body
Headlights and taillights are lit. Headlights are warm white and fog lights are yellow.
Equipped with KATO's unique car body pendulum mechanism that reproduces the car body tilting inward when passing through curves, just like the real thing.
The power unit is equipped with the well-established GM-5 motor, allowing for stable running.
The underfloor and bogie colors are blue-gray, and the couplers are black.
The intermediate car coupling section uses a KATO close-coupled coupler with a jumper tube.
